Our skin is one of the most sensitive and fragile parts of our body and needs to be handled delicately and with care to avoid mistakes that can cause permanent damage to the skin. Here are some skincare routines that can be damaging to our skin in the long run.
Using dry face wipes
Using face wipes can be a good thing most of the time, but most people use only the face wipes on their faces and forget to use proper water and soap to cleanse their faces.
When you use makeup in your skin there are different chemicals on the various products you used and you need to get rid of them properly before you sleep. Using just face wipes to wipe off makeup from your face is not safe and it does more harm than good to your skin.
Using dirty makeup brushes
Always endeavour to wash your makeup brush at least once a week. These brushes carry hidden gems and they go to our faces so it is proper they are kept clean always.
Using dirty brushes can do more harm to your face than you think; especially the foundation brush. Keeping the brush clean will ensure that no old makeup build-up will affect your face.
Not Washing your sheets and pillowcase frequently
If you are acne-prone, you should probably try to wash your sheets and pillowcase once a week in hot water, to kill off dust mites that can cause allergies.
Not having enough sleep
Not getting enough sleep makes your skin look dull and pale and you get circles under your eyes. Getting a good night’s sleep helps your skin to look good.
Using the wrong products
Using the wrong product for your skin can cause damage to your skin. The various skin types have different products that are compatible with their skin. It is best for you to go to your dermatologist to give you or advise you on the proper product that is suitable for your skin.
Sleeping with makeup on
Sleeping with makeup on is a big no-no for your skin, no matter how tired you are after a long day make sure to wash off the makeup off your face; trust me your face will thank you in the long run. “Eye makeup can end up inside your eyes while you sleep. That can cause conjunctivitis and eyelid dermatitis, which is inflammation of the eyelids because the skin is the thinnest in the body and the most sensitive,”
Overusing skincare products
With so many products available it is hard to know which one to use and when to use them. So sometimes we tend to overuse these products thinking they are helping us meanwhile, they are causing more harm than good to our skin. Overusing of skincare products can overload on active ingredients.
Not drinking enough water
When you do not drink enough water it makes you become dehydrated and your skin looks pale and dull, and your pores become obvious and your lines become visible. Most people with fine skin will tell you that staying hydrated is one of the basic ways to keep your skin fresh and lush so drink at least one litre of water a day to keep your skin healthy and refreshed.
