What you do once you wake up in the morning is a very important part of what determines how the rest of your day will go. There are lots of things we tend to do unknowingly that just ruin our day.

1. Hitting the snooze button

Hitting the snooze button when the alarm rings is an unhealthy habit of laziness that we tend to unknowingly abide in. When you sleep longer than you intend, you tend to teach yourself to lack discipline and it makes us less motivated to go about our daily tasks. Sleeping in is one of the most glorious feelings ever. But it perpetuates rushing around and feeling out of sorts for the whole day.

2. Eating sugar and carbs first thing in the morning

Eating fruits and vegetables are better ways to start your morning. Many people tend to indulge in sugar early in the morning for breakfast and this is not healthy. Not only for your mental well being but also for your physical well being. Eating sugar and carbs for breakfast is not advisable. There is a time and place for sugar and carbs, and it’s not at the breakfast table. I know that things like cereal with sugar content are easy to reach for in the morning, but empty carbs often make us more tired during the day, crankier, and leave us feeling hungry and unsatisfied an hour later. This is one of the unhealthiest morning habits to create for yourself.

3. Drinking any other liquid before water

Water should be the first thing you drink in the morning. It is extremely important you drink water first thing in the morning instead of coffee, tea or juice. What your body needs is water. You can still have your coffee or tea but just take water first.

4. Not eating breakfast

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and it should not be skipped. Your body needs healthy proteins and fats to work well. Give it what it needs by eating some meat and veggies in the morning! Another way to stay fit and healthy while still eating breakfast is to do your workout first thing in the morning, and then make a good breakfast for yourself after.

5. Always make your bed in the morning

Leaving your bed unmade in the morning might not seem like a big deal to you, and you are right. But making it first thing in the morning makes you accomplish something right as you wake up. If you do nothing else during the day, you at least got that done.

6. Open your curtain as soon as you wake up

Let the bright sunlight twinkle into your room first thing in the morning. One research has proven that blue sun rays early in the morning speed up the metabolism and help the body to wake up. Even at least 20 to 30 minutes of daylight is enough to feel its positive effect on the index of your body mass.
